  1. TheSentinel Says:

    The Highest Authority says:

    1 Peter Chaper 2:

13 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, 14 or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. 15 For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. 16 Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. 17 Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.

  2. Maverick 88 Says:

We do not have kings in the USA. We The People are the governors of this nation under the U.S. constitution, we elect men to the various offices to uphold the constitution and to keep formality. We do not bear the sword in vain as scripture states.
On another note, do you believe that obedience to government is absolutely stated in romans 13. If so then it was Gods work that the SS officers were doing, and those innocent workers at the concentration camps were only doing there job. If the government at hand decides that good is evil and evil is good, ask your self what does God have to say about such people and what has been done about such things an the past.

Be a little more realistic when quoting scripture, I would wonder what you would say about some of the “contradictions” concerning judging others, just a thought. Compare scripture with scripture and things will slowly begin to clear up for you. What about Luke 22, he who hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one….. I’m sure you’ve got some kind of cop out for that one to say that Christians are called to be some kind of passivists. According to your doctrine our founding fathers are in Hell because they “resisted the power” of Romans 13. Maybe Hitler wasn’t such a bad guy, I mean we have to punish those evil Jews, why not just wipe them out. There are way to many people in the world it’s getting too crowded, we should exterminate 80% of them to make way for the rest of us.

Can you honestly say that all governments are “not a terror to good works”, or is it just the ones that are ordained by God that are defenders of goodness? Think about it for a minute, do you believe that Hitler was a “minister of God to thee for good”. Tell me about all the good things that Hitler (or stalin or Mau for that matter) did for the world. God uses men time and time again through scripture and through history to put down evil and godless rulers. Did God change his mind about this sort of thing when he inspired men to write the New Testament books of the Bible?
