U.N. Climate Change panel embarrassed further – Sean Segler

This newest revelation will cause more embarrassment for the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which had to issue a humiliating apology last month over inaccurate statements about global warming:

It has now been learned that the IPCC used magazine articles and student essays as scientific data for their Nobel Peace Prize winning 2007 report.

In recent months it has been discovered that the IPCC  had for years knowingly used falsified data in their reports, culminating in what became known as “ClimateGate”, when  hacked documents and communications from the University of East Anglia’s Hadley Climate Research Unit were published to the internet in November, 2009.

The leaked documents and emails clearly show a deliberate, systematic falsification of temperature and other data in an attempt to mislead world opinion about climate change.

Further, the documents reveal how climatologists  affiliated with the IPCC  had coordinated campaigns to ostracize climate change skeptics and to keep dissenting reports from appearing in peer-reviewed journals.

These latest revelations don’t go as far, in that the data were not falsified in this case.

However, opinions from an article in a mountaineering magazine and a student paper were presented as “scientific”- and that is equally as dishonest as outright falsification.

These were part of the data presented as “scientific” in the IPCC report of 2007 that gained it the Nobel Peace Prize it shared with former United States Vice-President Al Gore.

The IPCC has faced growing criticism over sources used in the report after it emerged the panel had used unsubstantiated figures on glacial melting in the Himalayas contained within a World Wildlife Fund report.

Rajendra Pachauri, chair of the IPCC has faced calls for his resignation amid the growing controversy over the error on glacier melting and use of unreliable sources of information.

It should also be noted that Pachauri, known as “the world’s top climate scientist”, is a former railway engineer with a PhD in economics and no formal climate science qualifications.

These latest revelations show that “data” used in the report was pulled from student essays and magazine articles  interviewing mountain climbers stating that it appeared to them that there was less ice on mountains than in previous years.

In other words  not  peer-reviewed scientific reports, but rather anecdotal reports of personal opinion that fit with the picture of climate change that the IPCC was creating.

This is yet another black eye for those, such as Al Gore, that wish to mislead the public into accepting draconian environmental laws and taxes based on the fraudulent man-made global warming myth they have created.

The IPCC report is published every six years and is used by governments worldwide to inform policy decisions that affect billions of people.

Well, don’t forget that your idiot president is still pushing cap and trade and backing his epa dictate about CO2 emissions. But you have to remember: it isn’t about the ENVIRONMENT, it is about POWER and CONTROL.
