(HuffingtonPost) – Google CEO Eric Schmidt went head-to-head with Stephen Colbert yesterday evening to discuss everything from data-mining to China to Schmidt’s “joke” about privacy.

Colbert grilled Schmidt about Google’s search algorithm, and what information the company collects about its users.

“It’s true that we see your searches, but then we forget them after while,” Schmidt explained (he later told Colbert he would “encourage” him to erase his browser history).

(KurtNimmo) – The Senate Committee on the Judiciary will consider action today on a bill entitled Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act, ostensibly designed to allow the Justice Department to combat copyright infringement. “The legislation authorizes the Justice Department to file a court order against the domain name and seek an order from the court stating that the domain name is being used to access a website that is engaging in illegal activities,” reports TechNewsDaily.

Delaware’s Department of Transportation has sent Alex Jones and Infowars.com a “First Offense Warning” for an Infowars.com sign placed on a utility pole in the state. In the citation (see image below) sent by U.S. postal mail, Delaware’s DOT claims the ownership of the sign was “traced” to Infowars.com. The sign was removed on August 27, 2010. (SFChron) – The path to legalization for thousands of undocumented students has once again become less clear, as the Senate voted 56-43 on Tuesday against a motion to proceed with a defense appropriations bill that would have been used to move the DREAM Act through.

Some 65,000 undocumented students graduate from U.S. high schools every year. The DREAM Act, which Senator Harry Reid planned to attach to the defense bill, would provide an opportunity for those graduates to gain permanent resident status.

“They are valedictorians, honor students, and all they want to do is go to college and contribute back to society, but because of current laws, they can’t do that,” said Lisa Chen, a community advocate with the Asian Law Center in San Francisco. Read entire article
