(HigginsBlog) – NYC police attack, tear gas, and launch mass arrests against 2,000 peaceful Occupy Wall Street Protestors after fencing off female protestors and macing them.
In my last post, I reported on the NYC fencing off a group of peaceful female Occupy Wall Street Protestors and then macing them once they were caged liked animals.
NYC cops step up their indiscriminate use of force against peaceful Occupy Wall Street protestors by first trapping female protestors inside a fence and then macing animals they just caged.
A press release and several other reports from protestors on the ground reveals the incident is not isolated.
The Village Voice reports:
In Occupy Wall Street’s eighth day, protesters claim on their Twitter account today that they have been targeted by tear gas, and at least 50 people have been arrested during their march through the city this afternoon headed toward the United Nations building.
Member of Occupy Wall Street’s Public Relations Working Group Patrick Bruner said that he heard accounts of the tear gas from people who were monitoring the protest’s livestream and from another person who was in contact with someone “on the ground.”
“I’m working on confirming that,” he said. “I’m pretty sure it’s accurate.”
The Examiner reports:
Rights defender Tweeted there have been 96 arrests and more are expected.
“#NYPD overheard: ’88 arrests to one precinct, 8 to another. We expect more.’”
The livestream appears to be down due to another confiscation of the media equipment according to one Tweet from blogdiva Liza Sabater at approximately 3:00 pm ET, “HEADS UP NYC >> RT @AnonymousIRC: Media equipment seized. #OccupyWallstreet crew in need of a dualcore 2.4 GHz notebook.”
A press release from the protestors on the ground informs us that police have launched attacks against 2,000 people participating in today’s march titled “We Are the 99%”. According to the release The police are now conducting mass arrests and performing a sweep of protestors in the area .

#OCCUPYWALLSTREET is a people powered movement for democracy that began in America on September 17 with an encampment in the financial district of New York City. Inspired by the Egyptian Tahrir Square uprising and the Spanish acampadas, we vow to end the monied corruption of our democracy.
#occupwallstreet is currently located at Liberty Square, formerly named Zucotti Park.
In case the original press release disappears, here is a screen shot.
Apparently, the NYC Police have also began posting notices that basically state that park can not be used to stage the Occupy Wall Street protests without outright saying it.
