(EFF) – EFF is in Ottawa this week for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations, to influence the course of discussions over regressive digital policy provisions in this trade agreement that could lead to an increasingly restrictive Internet. But this round is different from the others—the secrecy around the talks is wholly unprecedented.
The Canadian trade ministry, who is hosting this round of talks, has likely heightened the confidentiality due to the mass public opposition that is growing against this undemocratic, corporate-driven trade deal. Read the rest of this entry »

(KurtNimmo) – For years revenue-hungry states and local municipalities have salivated over the prospect of taxing the life out of the internet. Now a move by a small but dedicated minority in Congress may result in the scraping of the Internet Tax Freedom Act and usher in a new era of exorbitant taxation, according to The Wall Street Journal. (NaturalNews) – One of the most extraordinary stories in the history of American journalism took place this last week, and the mainstream (liberal) media was AWOL the entire time. (SLHS) – In the forty-five years since the “infant Internet uttered its first words“, its social, economic, and political impact has been undeniable. With no central authority or governance to dictate how we access and share information, we have come to see ourselves as being part of the so-called ‘Information Age.‘ Virtually every aspect of our lives has radically changed – including the way that we interact with each other, how we do business, how we travel, and critically, the ease at which we have unfiltered access to a seemingly never-ending pool of information. Several residents from Fukushima who evacuated the area near the scene of the nuclear plant meltdown in 2011 have briefly returned to their houses in time for the New Year season. (NuclearNews) – 2013 nuclear spin failed: get ready for 2014 nuclear spin
In 2013 the pro nuclear spin was all about how “low dose” ionising radiation is OK – “don’t worry about it”. Despite the money spent propagating this lie, – it failed. Fukushima radiation is a greater worry than ever, along with all nuclear industry radiation, and overuse of medical radiation. In February 2014, the Symposium – Medical and Ecological Consequences of the Fukushima Nuclear Accident, at the New York Academy of Medicine. set the scientific facts clearly, and exposed the nuclear lobby’s lies.
In 2014 the spin is about “new generation” reactors, and how they will “fix climate change”.The opening salvo in this propaganda war is the glossy advertising film, Pandora’s Promise. You wouldn’t know, from this film, how divided and conflicted the nuclear lobby actually is. The “older style”Generation II reactors are still promoted, Gen’s III and IV (none built yet) are pushed as safer, while Small Modular (Nuclear) Reactors (SMRs) are touted as The Answer. None of them are affordable, but SMRs are the most wildly expensive.
2014 will be all about global spin for tax-payers to buy these small, or large, nuclear white elephants. And yes, an accompanying spin will be the continued attack on renewable energy. Well – it is free fuel – an intolerable idea! As Dr Helen Caldicott said long ago – “If they could put a blanket around the sun and sell holes, they’d be happy”. – Source: Nuclear-News

(RichardWilcox) – Nuclear Technology: Lasting Damage To Life’s Genetic Integrity And Heritage
“Yeeehaw!” – Slim Pickens and how he learned to love the bomb
Life was not a valuable gift, but death was. Life was a fever-dream made up of joys embittered by sorrows, pleasure poisoned by pain; a dream that was a nightmare-confusion of spasmodic and fleeting delights, ecstasies, exultations, happinesses, interspersed with long-drawn miseries, griefs, perils, horrors, disappointments, defeats, humiliations, and despairs–the heaviest curse devisable by divine ingenuity; but death was sweet, death was gentle, death was kind; death healed the bruised spirit and the broken heart, and gave them rest and forgetfulness; death was man’s best friend; when man could endure life no longer, death came and set him free. – Mark Twain (2)
Introduction: Our Genomic Legacy In Danger
“Yeeehaw” indeed. And pardon Twain’s ironic twist of words, he was a great lover of life but had moments of doubt. We have our own troubles, too, most of them caused by fellow travelers, our collective ignorance and complicity on a runaway train of greed, unaccountability and mutually assured destruction. Given that the genome is the building block of life the pervasive disruption at that level from ongoing nuclear disasters will reverberate in biogeographical and transgenerational dimensions, and cause lasting damage to the viability of our descendants. YouTube continues to remove our review of It’s A Wonderful Life by hand while the full version of the film remains on its site
UPDATE 2: In an act of political suppression, the latest mirror of our powerful report on It’s A Wonderful Life has been taken down by Youtube and the video sharing site is systematically removing uploads of our report by hand. This is all the more evident considering that the full version of It’s A Wonderful Life has been available on YouTube for almost two years. If automated “bots” were taking down our report due to bogus copyright claims, they would have removed the full version long ago under a more legitimate claim.
This is purposeful censorship of our report.
