(FreeFoundation) - Fast-food workers across the county have recently held a number of high profile protests to agitate for higher wages. These protests have been accompanied by efforts to increase the wages mandated by state and local minimum wage laws, as well as a renewed push in some states and localities to pass “living wage” laws. President Obama has proposed raising the federal minimum wage to ten dollars an hour. Read the rest of this entry »
(RPI) - After a year of talks over the post-2014 US military presence in Afghanistan, the US administration announced last week that a new agreement had finally been reached. (FreeFoundation) – One unique aspect of my homeschool curriculum is that students can start and manage their own online business. Students will be responsible for deciding what products or services to offer, getting the business up and running, and marketing the business’s products. Students and their families will get to keep the profits made from the business. Hopefully, participants in this program will develop a business that can either provide them with a full-time career or a way to supplement their income. Read the rest of this entry »
(Free-Foundation) – Opposing infringement on parental control of education and promoting alternatives to government-run schools is a vital task for the liberty movement. When government usurps a parent’s right to control their child’s education, it is inevitable that the child will be taught the values of government officials, rather than of the parents. The result is an education system with a built-in bias toward statism. Over time, government-controlled education can erode the people’s knowledge of, and appreciation for, the benefits of a free society. Read the rest of this entry »
(FreeFoundation) – In 2001, the Patriot Act opened the door to US government monitoring of Americans without a warrant. It was unconstitutional, but most in Congress over my strong objection were so determined to do something after the attacks of 9/11 that they did not seem to give it too much thought. Civil liberties groups were concerned, and some of us in Congress warned about giving up our liberties even in the post-9/11 panic. But at the time most Americans did not seem too worried about the intrusion. Read the rest of this entry »
(RPInstitue) – Last week’s House debate on the Defense Appropriations bill for 2014 produced a bit more drama than usual. After hearing that House leadership would do away with the traditional “open rule” allowing for debate on any funding limitation amendment, it was surprising to see that Rep. Justin Amash’s (R-MI) amendment was allowed on the Floor. In the wake of National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Edward Snowden’s revelations about the extent of US government spying on American citizens, Amash’s amendment sought to remove funding in the bill for some of the NSA programs. (TexasStraightTalk) – Last week we saw dramatic new evidence of illegal government surveillance of our telephone calls, and of the National Security Agency’s deep penetration into American companies such as Facebook and Microsoft to spy on us. The media seemed shocked.
Many of us are not so surprised. Read the rest of this entry »
(PeakResources) – Our goal is to help as many people as possible become aware of the disaster we are rapidly approaching with the end of cheap resources. In our opinion, the wealth of most Americans could get wiped out during the next decade due to commodity inflation. Focusing on your real purchasing power, altering your lifestyle, and investing in the future is an opportunity that you just can’t afford to miss. Read the rest of this entry »

(KurtNimmo) – Neocons and faux conservatives have raked former Texas Rep. (AJC) – Not just Infowars.com, but many a political researcher and pundit took notice that Ron Paul’s farewell address to Congress was a historic and very important speech spelling out that our country is becoming a corrupt empire and that we’re becoming a tyranny of tyrannies.
The New York Times, LA Times, Fox News and many others all heeded his farewell address, something that doesn’t normally happen with a Congressman, as he eloquently laid out the fork in the road America has come to: liberty or tyranny. Read the rest of this entry »

(BusinessInsider) – Speaking on the eve of the Republican National Convention, Ron Paul reassured hundreds of ecstatic supporters at a rally here Sunday that the revolution he began is far from over.
“Let me tell you, I was a little afraid to come down here,” Paul told the crowd at his Sun Dome rally. “I wasn’t afraid of Hurricane Isaac. But there have been a lot of news headlines that say the Revolution is over….They’re saying the Revolution isn’t happening — they wish!”
It was likely to be one of the last speeches of Paul’s political career — the Texas Congressman’s presidential campaign will officially end when the Republican Party nominates Mitt Romney this week, and Paul is retiring from Congress at the end of this year. But he promised his legions of fans on Sunday that the movement will move forward, even in his absence.
(TexasStraightTalk) – Last week the House passed yet another bill placing sanctions on Iran and Syria, bringing us closer to another war in the Middle East. We are told that ever harsher sanctions finally will force the targeted nations to bend to our will. Yet the ineffectiveness of previous sanctions teaches us nothing; in truth sanctions lead to war more than they prevent war. Read the rest of this entry »

(Infowars) – And don’t destroy the liberty movement you helped build either.
That goes double for the junior senator Rand Paul: you can’t win by joining the “lesser of two evils,” because it is still a submission to evil. The Paul family’s grassroots supporters are pleading with them to reverse the betrayal and turn back before a 30 year campaign to revitalize the Constitution and save the Republic is heavily damaged.
