(NYDaily) – The House votes Wednesday or Thursday for the first time ever on a bill to care for the heroes and victims of Sept. 11, 2001 – and it’s likely to fail.

That’s because Democratic House leaders decided Tuesday to push ahead with the Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act under a rule that requires two-thirds approval to pass.

Many Republicans are concerned about the $10.5 billion price tag, and many don’t like the way it’s paid for.

News of the scheme immediately alarmed 9/11 responders.

“Whoever votes ‘No’ tomorrow should go to jail for manslaughter,” said John Feal, who lost half his foot at Ground Zero in the cleanup. Full article here

(WCBSTV) – As New York City said thank you to the heroes of September 11, many who still suffer psychological trauma were told they will be losing their mental health benefits early next year.

“Long term it’s going to have a devastating effect on a lot of the members,” said Frank Ancona, retired firefighter.

About 4,500 people who were in Lower Manhattan on 9/11 and don’t qualify for other programs are enrolled in the City-funded benefit plan.

On Friday the City notified them that as of January 7, 2011, they will no longer be reimbursed for counseling services or medication related to mental health issues. Read More Here

In a last minute decision, lawyers for the City of New York have conceded that the New York City Coalition for Accountability Now (NYC CAN), a group comprising 9/11 family members, first responders and survivors, indeed did submit over 30,000 valid signatures to put the referendum for a new 9/11 investigation before the voters of New York City this November. Calling in to the Alex Jones show today, WeAreChange founder and political activist Luke Rudkowski said he was set-up for arrest at the Hilton Hotel on Manhattan last Saturday. Luke was at the hotel in order to ask New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg about his refusal to help with the medical costs of 9/11 first responders.
