On Saturday, April 27, supporters of the Bolivarian Revolution took to the streets in Caracas for the eighth consecutive Saturday since the national blackout in March. This particular mobilization was called to celebrate the final departure of Venezuela from the Organization of American States (OAS). The participants of the mobilization expressed joy for the formal exit of their country from the OAS which they describe as an organization designed to maintain US domination in the region and accuse of committing illegal interference with the democratically elected government of Venezuela through the promotion of economic sanctions, the recognition of the self-proclaimed president, Juan Guaidó and the illegitimate acceptance of a member of the Venezuelan National Assembly as a representative of the country within the organization. The participants also expressed a desire for regional unity, peace and respect for national sovereignty as well as commitment to continue developing the Bolivarian Revolution in spite of the current difficulties.
